ABOUT BARNESVILLE - LAMAR COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Research & Preservation

Here at Barnesville Lamar County Historical Society, we see the value in historical preservation. Since our beginnings in 1973, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Non-Profit Organization upon:
The Barnesville Lamar County Historical Society first, identifies historical events, locations, and artifacts. Secondly, those things identified as historical, are preserved by the society. Thirdly, those identified items are made accessible to the public.

Documenting History
The Barnesville-Lamar County Historical Society is proud to share our ongoing efforts to preserve and celebrate the rich history of our community. In partnership with Adventures into History, these videos showcase the stories of local families and our hands-on work to protect the resting places of those who came before us. From uncovering personal histories to restoring weathered headstones, we are committed to honoring the past and ensuring it remains part of Barnesville’s living legacy.
